aircraft designed by six young Venezuelans rises in the skies over Brazil
Aeronautical Engineering students represented their UNEFA Venezuela college and international competition in aircraft design SAE Brasil 2010 AeroDesign
Press GUIA-X .- (05/11/1910) .- from 20 to 25 October, the skies of the Brazilian city Sao Jose Dos Campos, received a team of six young Venezuelans on behalf of Venezuela, during the XII edition of the competition AeroDesign SAE Brasil 2010, where the unmanned aircraft, G01-X, does address Several tests in the post position No. 32 of 73 participants.
The University Group for Aeronautical Research Laboratory (GUIDE-X), comprising five students of Aeronautical Engineering of the National Experimental University of the Armed Forces (UNEFA), Keshan Dass, Andreas Diaz, Kelvin Soler Rafael Liscano and Andreina Martinez, along with the pilot, engineer Ricardo Benitez, raised the G01-X radio-controlled aircraft in AeroDesign SAE Brasil 2010, after beginning work, design and development in November 2009.
This international contest converge engineering students who must conceive, design, fabricate and test a radio controlled aircraft design under parameters set by the Technical Committee of the competition. SAE AeroDesign also seeks to promote and develop undergraduate engineering students, project management skills and resource management, in addition to acquiring technical skills, with the ultimate aim of generating a contribution or value to their houses of study.
The tests are based on a circuit of 360 degrees that each aircraft must perform lifting as much weight as possible, taking off and landing within 30 meters of track. It is in this circuit where the G01-X manages to get the number 32, to compete with 73 other aircraft involved, with this position a strong achievement, it is the first time the team GUIA-X participates in an international competition of this magnitude.
GUIA-X team reaches the rating on their first flight in the second round, and after it, participates in the following four final rounds of competition. The aircraft designed by the five students and piloted by the engineer Ricardo Benitez was able to lift 7.7 kg to 6.6 kg added to their own weight, for a total of 14.3 kg
On the other hand, the G01-X showed an excellent performance in design and manufacturing, since no flight has been dropped and was completely stable .
Participation in the team competition is a unique learning opportunity in flying through inclusion of students in the development of a multidisciplinary project, and challenging that allowed the team GUIA-X bonds of friendship and cooperation with other teams, both in Brazil and in other participating countries, giving and understanding the value of cooperation not only in academia, but internationally.
At a press conference, the team GUIA-X Vice President thanked the management of Social Affairs and Citizenship of the UNEFA, Abg. Jose Aranguren, and National Coordinator Technical Projects, Cesar De Souza, who supported and encouraged the team GUIA-X in their participation in the competition AeroDesign SAE Brasil 2010.
