Caracas, 14/04/2010, Laura Delgado, Aeroblog .- April 12, marks the day of the Cosmonauts, because it marks the first manned space flight in history.
On April 12, 1961
Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, aboard the spacecraft Vostok 1, circled Earth for the first time.
addition, the April 12, 1961, conducted its first successful space shuttle mission from NASA, Columbia.
The date was established by decision of the International Aeronautical Federation

the Vostok cosmonauts ejected before the capsule touched the ground. For many years the Soviet authorities had concealed that Gagarin jumped out of fear that is regarded as invalid the flight of Vostok-1, because according to some absurd rules of the International Aeronautical Federation, space mission only count as one in which the pilot landed with his ship.
